Interconnection of Photovoltaic Plants in Elassona, Larissa

Requirements
As part of the development of 24 PV plants in the Elassona area, with a total capacity of approximately 20 MW, the client is exploring a method of connecting the PV plants to the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS). The connection involves a network of overhead and underground medium-voltage lines, as well as interconnection with the high-voltage grid.

Challenges
The techno-economically optimal combination of overhead and underground networks, in a project with a significantly increased total length of medium-voltage routing and a multitude of existing networks and agricultural land along the entire route, posed major challenges for us. More specifically, a method of interconnection had to be identified that would ensure the overall viability of the project.
Method of project completion
After thorough research and multiple meetings with the client, we managed to achieve our goal by identifying the techno-economically optimal medium-voltage route, which promptly secured a positive recommendation from the authorities.
